These are the glorious weapons you'll add onto your arsenal in Quake 4, some familiar, others flourishing with freshness to bloat:

Blaster PistolAn upgraded version of what's also seen in Quake II, it's the standard-issued weapon that every marine receives first-hand, obviously. It's essentially
an energy pistol that's ideally used as a last resort when it comes to picking off those lower-class enemies, like the basic Strogg Berserker. It's only a slight-damage dealing weapon, after all. Haply, you'll never be depleted from ammo with his nuclear battery packed baby, and it also has a built-in flashlight. You simply just couldn't ask for more.

Machinegun
This perfectly balanced full-auto rapid rifle has returned from the depths of Quake II! Armed with 40 rounds per clip, an alternate single-shot sniper mode, it's truly a versatile weapon to behold indeed, also with a handy, integrated flashlight attached to it, much like the blaster pistol itself.

Shotgun
Ahh, now this is more like it! Big daddy's home now, and he's here to deal utterly devastating damage! This naturally packs 8-rounds of pellets per internal magazine, and is most useful in close or medium ranged combat quarters. So, apparently, this does not culminate in awe when it comes to long-ranged tactics.

Nail Gun
Now we move on to the less tangible weapons. The nailgun isn't an all fast bowls frenzy weapon to withold, and it's infact even quite a slow one, but it also deals high damage. It's also upgradeable with auto-aim target lock-on capabilities, also bearing larger clip sizes, even with a slow rate-of-fire; it's not by any means a bad weapon.

Grenade Launcher
Now *this* is a fantastic weapon for desperately dire situations! It's clearly self-explanatory - a gun that launches grenades instead of manually having to throw them in a handheld fashion, and these grenades blow up either immediately on impact or after 3 seconds.

Rocket Launcher
The Rocket Launcher.... I think I've arrived at 7th heaven. Enough said. This awesome weapon whisk away incredible damage dealing rockets at an extremely quick rate, that, you yourself, even may consider to be, well, erm, 'snappy'. You should feel priveleged whence in possession of it.

Hyperblaster
Plasma gun, anyone? This is a very rapid firing rate weapon that shoots tiny balls of blue plasma obelisks. It's also upgradeable throughout the game. Also keep in mind that the plasma balls themselves may not always successfully hit your opponents, but can also incidently bounce off the walls, also known as Ricochet.

Railgun
Brilliant. Genius. What more can be said? This high-velocity weapon, also seen in Quake III Arena, shoots a less than a second trailing beam-like thin line glow of energy, scraping any opponent into nothing more than a pile of gibs. It's ultimately the sniper rifle of Quake 4 as it has a zoom mode and what not. It's also one of the many upgradeable weapons.

Lightning gun
This amazing weapon, reminiscent of the Quake III Arena rendition, shoots a continuous medium-damage stream of lightning bolt compiled energy. Once again, it's also upgradeable, but quite a deadly weapon indeed.

Dark Matter Gun
Pure. Kick-ass. Period. This is the ULTIMATE weapon, and can even give the BFG a run for its money. It hurtles not quite a fast yet potently effective radius of trajecting dark matter, covering a massive radius, and dealing unbelievably high damage. It basically tracts any enemies into the ball of dark matter that are within a reasonable range of contact, and then proceeds to destroy them. The weaker the enemy, the most probable the chance that they'll just be completely vaporized into oblivion, or gore and blood, by the ball of dark matter.
